Tenor - Musicologist


Panos Markoullis was born in Kavala (Greece) in 1982.  He graduated from the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece) with a BMus (distinction) in musicology, in 2006. He obtained his diplomas in Harmony (2001, prof. Christos Fotopoulos), Counterpoint (2004, prof. Dimos Nikopoulos), and Classical Singing (2006, prof. Marialena Panagiotopoulou) with Honors from the Conservatory of Northern Greece.


He has attended singing master classes with Claudia Visca, Kostas Paskalis, Kurt Equiluz, Sophia Kyanidou, and Rosa Poulimenou. He took a Masters in Music Performance (2008) under the tutelage of Bridget Budge, and Martin Pickard (School of Music, University of Leeds) and a Masters in Performance & Related Studies (2009) after studying with Nan Christie, and Prof. Alexander Ivashkin (Goldsmiths College, University of London). In June 2009 he performed the roles of Don Basilio and Don Curzio for OperaGold’s production of Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.


For his undergraduate and postgraduate studies he has been granted with scholarships from the State Scholarships Foundation and Lilian Voudouri Foundation of Greece, and the A. G. Leventis Foundation of Cyprus.


At the moment he is a Ph.D candidate at Goldsmiths College, University of London under the guidance of Dr. Berta Joncus.
